NFL Network to televise Insight Bowl

AP 5/9/06

Tempe, Ariz. -- The NFL Network has signed a multiyear deal to televise the Insight Bowl.

Moving to the NFL Network is the latest major change for the Insight Bowl, which will now match a Big 12 team against a Big Ten team and be played at Sun Devil Stadium.

Last season, the game matched teams from the Pac-10 and Big East and was played at the Arizona Diamondbacks' ballpark in Phoenix. Previously, the game aired on ESPN.

"Acquiring the Insight Bowl is placing another brick on the strong foundation of NFL Network," NFL Network president and CEO Steve Bornstein said in a statement.

It's the second college game to be acquired by the NFL Network in recent weeks, joining the Senior Bowl all-star game.

The NFL Network will air NFL regular-season games for the first time this season. The network, owned and operated by the National Football League, will show eight regular-season games, along with 52 preseason games, this season.

The NFL Network can be found on MCG channel 28.
