Letter to MCG TV Customers
Thank you for being an MCG customer. We appreciate the trust you have in us providing you with the highest value for your communication needs. We believe we are here to serve you and continually seek to do what is in your best interest.
In order to continually provide you the highest value, we perform a periodic review of the cost versus benefit of our TV programming. We recently asked for your thoughts on whether to continue carriage of the Viacom channels (MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, etc.). Over 80% of your responses were to remove them to help control the cost of your monthly television bill. Because of this overwhelming response we will be discontinuing carriage of the Viacom channels on January 1st, 2016. (A complete list of these channels is below this letter). We understand there will be a few of you who will be disappointed in our decision and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
By discontinuing carriage of the Viacom channels, MCG will be able to absorb content increases next year, which means no TV price increase to you as an MCG customer in 2016 (average increase in past years was $6/mo. $72 annually).
Also, we would like to increase the value of your television service by including High Definition Service (HD) at no charge beginning in January 2016. Currently, our HD rate is $12 per month and now will be at no cost to you as an MCG video customer. As technology evolves, and more and more content providers are discontinuing standard definition programming, we felt this was important to make this change at this time.
Thank you again for being an MCG customer and we look forward in continuing to earn your trust.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2016 from the MCG family.
These are the Viacom channels which are being dropped from the MCG TV line up.
